Re-Inventing Amy – The Up and Coming Amazing Wedding Planner

Here is my story.  And more importantly, my first ever blog……

I’m calling this as the year of “Re-Inventing Amy”.  Let me explain why, I’ll try to make it short and sweet.  I graduated college from Texas Tech University with a major in Social Services.  I picked this major because I absolutely love to work with and help people.  After college I spent the majority of my career as a HR Business Partner (17 years to be exact).  While I loved the profession, I grew tired of how mundane the job had become.  I knew exactly what was coming each day, each month, each year – BOO!  The job became unenjoyable, but I still loved and enjoyed the people I supported.  Around that time, I thought it was unfortunate that after so many years of blood, sweat and tears, the company I dedicated my career to decided to offshore a portion of their HR department and left many of their dedicated and loyal employs high and dry.  But when one door closes, another one is opened, and a few months later I realized it was a true blessing.  Here is why I say that….

I wanted to cry with the thought of going back to corporate America.  I started working on my resume and found myself looking for other things to do instead, which was mainly planning my daughter’s wedding.  I was having SOO much fun.  I still am since we’re 5 months out from the big day!!  It hit me that THIS (wedding planning) was the next “open door” and what I wanted going forward.  I talked with my husband and he was not one bit hesitant with me focusing on building my own wedding business.  This time, I wanted to cry in enjoyment.  So, I quickly started to launch my own business — BELLA VISTA WEDDING PLANNING!  This is why I call this year, the year of “Re-Inviting Amy”!
